POSITION TITLE: Post-Doctoral Fellow – Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

PAY RANGE:

Mines is offering a salary of $55,000 – $60,000

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

A post-doctoral fellow opportunity is anticipated in the Packard Research Group in the area of microelectronics/controlled spalling.

Responsibilities under the direction from Dr. Corinne Packard:

  • Independently execute research and development of controlled spalling of single crystal wafers
  • Design and improve process flows for electroplating and controlled spalling
  • Maintain excellent safety, data management, and record keeping protocols
  • Collaborate with and manage junior graduate students in the research group
 QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate has experience in multiple areas listed below:

  • Cleanroom experience, including film deposition and photolithography
  • Wafer handling experience. 2”-6” experience, particularly in Ge, GaAs, or non-Si wafer technologies
  • Mechanical modeling (for instance, FEM, analytical modeling, stress modeling, multilayer modeling)
  • Engineering/adapting custom fixtures
  • Electroplating experience
  • Materials metrology experience, including atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, curvature measurements, x-ray diffraction, contact and non-contact profilometry
  • Chemical etching and wafer cleaning experience, particularly specific to III-Vs
  • Process development for thin (<100 micrometer thick) film handling
