Pandora Picariello receives $10,000 award for second consecutive year in recognition of academic excellence and technical expertise
Colorado School of Mines graduate student Pandora Picariello has been selected to receive the ASTM International Graduate Scholarship for the second consecutive year, earning $10,000 to support her continued education. The scholarship
recognizes graduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance, leadership qualities, and technical knowledge relevant to ASTM International standards. Picariello’s renewal application particularly impressed the selection team with her expertise in additive manufacturing technologies, making her “a clear front runner for this award,” according to Travis Murdock, Manager of Technical Committee Operations at ASTM International.
The ASTM International Graduate Scholarship is a highly competitive program that awards up to four scholarships annually to high-potential graduate students who have shown significant interest or involvement with ASTM standards. Recipients can use the funds for educational expenses including tuition, books, fees, and materials. The scholarship is limited to two years of funding, making Picariello’s consecutive awards a notable achievement that speaks to her continued excellence in her field of study.
“Congratulations to Pandora and the Colorado School of Mines!” said Murdock in his notification letter. Along with the monetary award, Picariello will receive a physical trophy that recognizes her outstanding contributions to the field. Her expertise in additive manufacturing technologies aligns perfectly with ASTM’s Committee F42 on additive manufacturing, highlighting the practical relevance of her graduate research to industry standards and innovation.
